About Us
Responsible Ragdoll breeding, honest communication and placements that last a lifetime.
PurePawsRagdollKittens is a small, in-home cattery devoted to one breed and one goal: raising Ragdoll kittens well, and placing each of them with a family that is ready for a long, affectionate companionship. We are not a volume operation. We would rather take our time over a single litter than cut corners on the things that shape a kitten for life.
Our mission and values
Our mission is simple to state and demanding to live up to: every kitten leaves us healthy, confident, litter-trained, well socialized and honestly documented, and every family goes home informed, supported and matched with a cat that suits their life. Four values guide every decision we make.
- The cat comes first. Breeding decisions, daily routines and placement choices are made around what is best for the cats, not what is quickest or most profitable.
- Honesty over hype. We tell families what the breed is really like, including the grooming, the indoor lifestyle and the company a Ragdoll needs, and we only describe a kitten’s records when they have been documented.
- Care that continues. Our responsibility does not end at handover. Families are welcome to stay in touch with questions for the life of the cat.
- Respect for the breed. The Ragdoll was developed for its gentle temperament and striking looks. We aim to preserve its sound health, sturdy build, silky coat and famously easy-going character.
Why responsible breeding matters
A kitten’s first weeks shape its health and character for years to come. Responsible breeding means choosing parent cats with sound temperaments and good health, screening breeding cats for the hereditary conditions relevant to the breed, keeping a veterinarian closely involved, and giving each litter a calm, clean, enriching home environment. It also means being selective about where kittens go, and being willing to say no when a home is not the right fit. These choices cost time and money, and they are the difference between a well-adjusted companion and a cat that struggles.
The qualities we aim to encourage
In a companion cat, temperament is everything. We look for and nurture the traits that make a Ragdoll such a joy to live with: a relaxed, trusting outlook toward people; the ability to settle calmly in the home; confidence with everyday noises and novelty; sociability with other animals; and the gentle, affectionate spirit the breed is known for. Sound structure, a healthy silky coat and good overall vigour matter too, because a comfortable cat is a happy one.
How kittens are raised and socialized
Kittens are born and raised in our home, not in a separate facility. They are handled gently every day from birth and, as they grow, introduced step by step to the sounds and routines of family life: visitors, the vacuum cleaner, gentle combing and nail trims, the carrier, and plenty of play with their mother and littermates. Weaning is gradual, litter training is well established before placement, and veterinary examinations, vaccinations and parasite prevention follow an age-appropriate schedule, with each step recorded for the individual kitten so the family receives an accurate account of what has been done.
Matching kittens with the right homes
Every inquiry begins with a conversation. We ask about your household, your routine, your other pets, whether your cat will live indoors, and your plans for grooming, enrichment and veterinary care. We will be honest if we think another breed, or a different kitten, would be a better match. The aim is a placement that lasts a lifetime, and the best way to achieve that is to be candid on both sides before anyone commits.
Honest communication and transparent records
You will never find a claim on this website that we cannot back up for the individual cat. Each kitten’s profile states what has been documented and what is still to come. Veterinary records are shared in writing, our policies are published in full once finalized, and we answer questions directly. If something is not yet known, we say so.
